Experienced Medical Secretary - West Leeds

Job Descripription

Private Paediatric practice is looking for an experienced medical secretary to work initally 3 half days a week with potential to extent the hours. The medical secretary will be required to provide efficient and effective secretarial duties to consultant(s) and his/her team. 


Job responsibilities

To act as the first point of contact for all forms of communication for the consultant(s) and his/her team. To provide flexible admin support to consultant(s) and the team.

Liaison with patients, parents/ carers and medical professionals

Response to online enquiries; booking of appointments , correspondence, typing of clinical letters, 

arranging investigations  and to ensure all investigation results are readily available to the clinical staff and once signed and acted upon and filed correctly in the medical case notes.


PA responsibilities to Clinical Lead. 


Secretarial diploma RSA 3 or relevant equivalent

· GCSE English and Mathematics

· Minimum of two years office management and administrative experience

· Ability to demonstrate an intermediate level of skill across Microsoft Office Suite of software (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

· Awareness of the importance of maintaining patient confidentiality 

· Customer care training desirable


2 years +

familiarity with DGL Practice Manager and experience in private sector welcomed.



· Excellent communication skills, confident and assertive, clarity in written, telephone and face to face contacts

· Ability to communicate with multi-disciplinary professionals and staff incorporating diplomacy and absolute discretion

· Ability to understand and work with financial, administrative and personnel processes

· Strong customer service skills.

· Ability to operate a personal computer with knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software and accuracy and attention to detail

· An effective and supportive team player with the capability, confidence, temperament and self-motivation to work independently where circumstances dictate

· Proactive attitude, reliability and flexibility

Base: West Leeds 

Salary: Negotiable, depending on experience
