clock28 Nov 2008 12:00 Mrs Caroline Sanderson Our NHS Trust is in the process of introducing a Voice Recognition (VR) system in Radiology which will mean considerable changes to our role as Medical Secretaries. I would be interested to know if anyone else has experienced VR and how it has affected their role for better or worse.
clock09 Dec 2008 14:17 Mrs Ann Rhodes Hi, Our X-Ray Department at Pennine Acute Trust are changing to voice recongition next year and the secretarial and clerical staff are being re-structured. I am also chairman of the Training andDevelopment Group and had received a number of e mails with regard to particularly radiography and path lab using this system. It has come on tremendously I know but I have not yet heard of whether it has been successful or not Let me know if you have any other replies to this on the website, and also perhaps an article in the newsletter may be a good idea asking for members views on this. Ann Rhodes,
clock05 Oct 2009 22:39 Mrs Elaine Cocciadiferro Hello Ann and Caroline, I wonder how the voice recognition is going? We have a couple of young doctors in our department who are cutting out dictation altogether by typing their own letters and pasting them into the shared database. Some of us are worried that this is doing us out of a job - or that we shall lost control over the quality of letters produced. At the moment it is helpful because we are running at a constant 50% admin staffing rate, but it could be growing trend. What do other readers think? Elaine Cocciadiferro, Manchester
