About Us

The British Society of Medical Secretaries & Administrators (BSMSA) is the professional body for all administrators and PAs in the NHS, private practice, and primary care.

The BSMSA provides introductory and continuous training courses, professional support and a chance to meet and exchange views at local and national meetings and through the BSMSA’s official Journal.

Our Aims

  • To act as the professional body for all medical secretaries and administrators
  • To promote and preserve the proper recognition of the medical secretary and administrator as a professional member of the medical team
  • To provide educational courses and meetings to ensure proper training and continuing professional development (CPD)
  • To provide professional advice and support to members
  • To liaise with other organisations to promote the interests of medical secretaries and administrators

Management

The Board of Directors manage the affairs of the Society. The Society’s approved accounts are available to members and are presented at the Annual General Meeting. The Training and Development Group, a sub-committee of the Executive Committee, is responsible for the organisation of courses, assessments and examinations

Meetings

The Annual Conference (including the AGM, workshops, lectures, CPD and Award ceremonies is held every autumn in a different part of the country each year. There are also various regional and local meetings organised by local representatives.
